About Amy
During this global pandemic, I was inspired by the "challenges" of recreating recognized paintings and I decided to make a self-portrait project inspired by the paintings of black painters. This first series is based on the works of Amy Sherald and her “Heart of the Matter” Exhibit in Chelsea. Ms. Sherald is an African American painters renowned for former first lady Michelle Obama’s official portrait. I was drawn to the simplicity of her paintings and the colors used. I focused on certain elements, patterns or color of her paintings to create my self-portraits.
Parts of my first and second series were included in the fourth edition of the online magazine Art of The Isolation.
High quality art prints from my Self-Portrait series are available for purchase. If you are interested in a particular print, please contact us.

I turned my house into a photography studio. It was such a fun, and creative project; I got a chance to play dress-up, be a stylist, a make-up artist, a hairstylist, a model and photographer. I made sure to style each picture with afro-centric and/or items from small-business, local business, black-owned and Haitian-Owned businesses as much as possible. Also, I only used items, outfits and accessories that I already had.
