About Barkley
The second series is based on the works of Barkley Hendricks, another African American painter. This series was inspired from his works that were part of the Soul of Nation Exhibit. I was also drawn to the simplicity of his paintings, the colors used and his message. I focused on certain elements, patterns or color of his paintings to create my self-portraits.

Autoportrait below was inspired by Barkley Hendricks’ for my Man Superman (Superman never saved any Black people-Bobby Seale).
This photo was also in honor of Haitian Flag day Celebration and the Haitian Heritage Month which is in May.
