About Nicholle

This fifth series is based on the works of Nicholle Kobi , an Afro Parisian illustrator. I was drawn to the simplicity of her drawings, the colors used, the whimsical aspect of her drawings and the empowerment message of her prints. I focused on certain elements, patterns or color of her paintings to create my self-portraits and bring them to life. I was really drawn to prints as I felt a deeper connection; for instance, two of her art prints spoke to me for obvious reasons: her print entitled "Bianca", I am Bianca and her print entitled "November girl" as I was born in November. I am both Bianca and November girl.
